Rogue Fox café

Rogue Fox café has been in Clytha Square, Newport for some time now and is the type of place you could easily find in the back streets of France or Italy because it seems to have that artisan familiarity about it which is both pleasant and low key.

The former café under the same name was a couple of doors away and had the feel of being in your Nan’s living room with books and knick knacks dotted around the place. It was very homely and a place that you could feel totally relaxed in, not quite the same in the new café but nevertheless it’s a warm atmosphere and all the staff are courteous and helpful with food orders and options.

The display of pastries is well presented and caters for all tastes and dietary needs as is the food menu that covers all bases. If you want a variation on the set menu they seem only too happy to accommodate your wishes. Most importantly the coffee is as good as you’ll drink anywhere, again with all the choices from a range that is well presented and nice background music to compliment the ‘flavour’.

The coffee shop is just on the borders of the busy town centre and I’m sure is the ideal place to grab a coffee on your way into work as well as stopping off for breakfast or lunch which is served without delay, something that pleases me no end as it’s a display of professionalism that doesn’t go unnoticed.

All round a good place to eat and drink if you’re local to Newport which I believe is open from 8am every morning.

I’ve known the owners Will & Lexi for some time and they run a good show at Rogue Fox and have kept it one of the more popular café bars close to the City.

One thing to get fixed is the sticky front door to keep us older generation out of the draft and make sure we stay there for ‘just another coffee’ before we leave.
Perhaps they could bring back the ‘Nan’s old living room’ ambience and I’d probably never leave!
